program development in open water lifeguarding.
- Impaled Objects: From Opening to Closing, Mathew Giachetti – Covers the full spectrum of impalement injuries, from prevention strategies and lifeguard interventions to advanced medical management, including BLS, ALS, and surgical
considerations.
- Swimming-Induced Pulmonary Edema (SIPE), Robin Lang – Explores SIPE through a first-hand case study and research, outlining risk factors, signs, symptoms, treatment, and implications for drowning prevention.
- The Ben Carlson Memorial & Scholarship Foundation, Jennifer Fox – Presentation of the second annual USLA Ben Carlson Lifeguard of the Year Award, recognizing Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue lifeguard Craig Dodson for outstanding
contributions to the lifesaving profession.
