Applications for the USLA Open and Youth National Teams Staff positions are now open. The appointed Selection Committee and the 2024-2026 Open and Youth National Team Managers will review applications and select qualified candidates to be added to the National Teams Staff. The Selection Committee and Team Managers will make final recommendations to the USLA President for official appointments subject to the Board of Director’s approval. National Teams Staff will be interviewed and selected for positions at international competitions prior to travel.

National Teams Staff positions may include: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Pool Specialist, Beach Specialist, Craft Specialist, Physical Therapist, Nutritionist, etc.

National Teams Staff will provide various roles in the development and support of the Open and Youth National Teams and will take on some of the following duties:

• Assist with scouting & selection of Open and Youth National Team athletes.
• Help develop & implement athlete training programs, both in person & remotely.
• Work closely with Team Managers to optimize individual and team performance.
• Assign athletes to competition events based on individual & team strengths.
• Liaise with the athletes throughout the duration of team selection.
• Work with Managers and other staff on administrative functions as needed.

Staff appointments are volunteer and will focus on international competitions including the International Surf Rescue Challenge taking place in New Zealand in November of 2025, and the Lifesaving World Championships being held in Morocco in 2026. National Teams Staff positions may vary per event. The selection process of coaching and support staff will commence once the Team Managers have been announced.
