The United States Lifesaving Association offers course completion cards for those who successfully complete an initial open water lifeguard course or an annual refresher course at a USLA certified lifeguard agency. The cards demonstrate that the bearer is trained in beach lifeguarding in accordance with national standards. They are of a quality similar to a scuba course completion card and intended to last a lifetime.They are considered official documents validated by recognized lifeguard agency representatives. 

Initial Course Cards:

The initial course completion cards are personalized on laminated plastic and intended to last a lifetime. They may be ordered by lifeguard agencies and by individual lifeguards. With proper evidence of course completion they may be ordered for a course that occurred at any time the lifeguard agency offering the training was USLA certified and validation can be provided that a lifeguard completed the course.

Refresher Cards: 

The refresher cards are designed to be completed by lifeguard agencies and distributed to lifeguards who successfully complete annual refresher courses, to demonstrate they are current in their training.
