Will registration be the same as it was in 2023 in Virginia Beach?

Lifeguards
No. When you register for the event, you will be asked to select the single competitor events you would like to participate in. Team events and the 90m Sprint will be put together by your Team Captain. Team Captains should email scoring@usla.org so you can enter your teams and make any necessary changes.

Junior Lifeguards
When you register for the event, you will be asked to select single competitor events you would like to participate in. Team events are put together by either your Team Captain or can be put together by any group of junior lifeguards and your team should show up when the event is called.

What is the deadline to register for an event?

The deadline to register for ALL competitor events will be on Sunday August 4, 11:59 PM EDT. You will still be able to register for the event after that time. If you register after the cutoff, you can still participate and will have to show up at the line when the event is called and confirm with the course official that you want to participate.

Do I need to check in for an event?

There will be no need to ‘check-in’ for an event. Please show up for your events that you selected. In the event you do NOT want to participate in an event you signed up for, please notify the course official when the event is called.

What if I didn’t add an event and the event is now locked? Can I still compete?

The size of each heat is based on safety protocols. Once an event is locked and heats are created it may be difficult and/or impossible to add you to a heat. If there are open spaces at the start line, it will be at the race official’s discretion to add you to the event. It is our suggestion that you make sure you sign up NO later than 4 days before USLA Nationals begins on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

What events will be available for me to choose?

When you register for the USLA National event, you will only be able to choose single competitor events with the exception of the 90m Sprint. The 90m Sprint will be selected by your Team Captain. There are no team events to choose from. Your participation in team events is managed by your Team Captain.

Can my Team Captain manage my own individual events?

Yes! If you have a Team Captain, they will have access to add or drop you from events.
