Anyone planning to attend the 2024 Nationals in South Padre Island should keep the following points in mind to assure that the event is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

The USLA plans to adhere to all local, state, and national requirements related to the event. However, the risk of exposure to COVID, the flu, or other viral illnesses can still lead to subsequent morbidity and death at this or any other large event.
- The USLA has recommended that all lifeguards and participants be fully vaccinated for COVID, the flu, etc. If you are not vaccinated your risks are increased and you should take other precautions as recommended by the CDC.
- If you have recently been exposed to someone with COVID, tested positive for COVID, the flu or other viral illnesses in the past five days or experience symptoms of COVID you should not attend the event.
- If you develop symptoms of COVID, the flu or other viral illnesses or test positive for COVID, the flu or other viral illnesses while you are at the event you should cease participation and notify the organizers and your team captain.
- You should always follow the signs, notifications, and requests of the organizers and officials, especially as they relate to safety
